If something is wrong with it.

2 years from delivery. This is the legal guarantee of conformity under Italian consumer law and it applies to every item sold on this site.

For the first 12 months, any lack of conformity that appears is presumed to have existed at the moment of delivery, and it is for us to prove otherwise. After that the burden shifts to you, though in practice a photograph and a description are usually enough for us to act.

You claim from us, the seller. You do not need to contact a manufacturer or a mill, and we will not send you to one.

Anything that means the garment is not what it was described as. In practice:

• a seam that opens, a dropped stitch that runs, a hole that was not moth damage
• a neckband or cuff that loses its recovery in normal wear
• a button placket that distorts, buttons that break
• colour that transfers onto other clothing in normal dry wear
• measurements materially different from the size table, or a fibre composition different from the one stated
• felting or shrinkage that happens when the garment was washed exactly as labelled

The last one matters. If you washed it the way the label says and it shrank anyway, that is our problem, not yours.

Then it is not a lack of conformity, and the guarantee does not cover it. Felting caused by washing outside the stated conditions is damage arising from use.

Two worked examples, so there is no ambiguity:

• Not covered. C-01 Cashmere Crew is labelled hand wash only, maximum 30 °C. It goes through a 60 °C machine cotton cycle and comes out matted and two sizes smaller. The wash conditions were exceeded, the damage is irreversible, and we cannot replace it under the guarantee.
• Covered. A-01 Merino Crew is labelled wool cycle, maximum 30 °C, dry flat. It is washed on a 30 °C wool programme and dried flat, and it still comes out 6 cm shorter in the body. That is a garment that did not behave as described, and we repair, replace or refund it.

If you are unsure which of the two you have, tell us the programme and temperature you used and send a photograph. We would rather work it out than argue about it. The physics of felting is explained here.

• Pilling. Every wool garment pills. Each product page states the grade and the test method so you know how quickly. It is a property of the fibre, not a defect. How to deal with it.
• Moth damage. Holes eaten by clothes moth larvae are storage damage. How to prevent it.
• Snags and pulls from watches, rings, zips and bag hardware, particularly on the wool-silk blend, which the product page warns about explicitly.
• Ordinary wear: thinning at the elbows and cuffs after long use, gradual softening, and colour fading from sunlight.
• Damage from alterations, repairs by third parties, tumble drying, or bleach.

None of that stops you writing to us. Some of it we can fix as a goodwill repair even though we do not have to.

The remedies run in the order the law sets out:

1. Repair or replacement, at no cost to you and within a reasonable time, whichever you choose unless the one you chose is impossible or disproportionate.
2. A proportionate price reduction, or termination of the contract with a refund, if repair or replacement is not possible, was not done in reasonable time, or would cause you significant inconvenience.

Return postage for a garment being examined under the guarantee is on us. Write to support@italiamoda.space with your order reference, a description and a photograph, and we will reply within one working day.

No. We do not offer a commercial warranty, and therefore nothing here can be mistaken for a replacement of your statutory rights. If we ever introduce one it will be stated clearly as an addition to the legal guarantee, never as a substitute for it, and it will not narrow anything on this page.

Your separate right to change your mind within 14 days is not affected by any of this. That is the right of withdrawal.
