Cashmere blend 30
- What it gives you
- Cashmere hand at two thirds the price
- What it costs you
- Still delicate, still hand-wash territory
Thirty percent cashmere, seventy percent merino, by weight. A garment sold as a cashmere blend without a number could be three percent cashmere and would be describing itself accurately.
The merino carries the abrasion, the cashmere carries the hand. It is the most sensible piece in this line and the least exciting.
Four rows, on every wool piece we sell
What this yarn will do that you did not ask for.
A piece with any of these four rows missing cannot be listed. That rule is enforced in the build, not left to whoever writes the copy.
- Will it pill?Pilling
- It will pill, and cashmere pills more than any wool here. The fibre is short and fine, so ends work loose. We grade this yarn 3 after 2,000 rubs (Martindale, ISO 12945-2). At 30% cashmere this is inherent to the fibre and not a fault.
- Will it itch?Itch
- Mean fibre diameter 17.4 μm. This is the finest fibre on the site and almost nobody registers it against skin. Fineness is also why it abrades faster than coarser wool.
- What if I wash it wrong?Felting
- Cashmere felts fast. Hand wash at 30 °C maximum in still water, no wringing, dried flat. A warm machine wash will mat this into a smaller, harder garment and that damage is permanent and not a defect.
- Will moths eat it?Moths
- Moths prefer fine animal fibre, and cashmere is the finest here. Store it clean and sealed, and check it mid-season. A single moth larva can put four holes in one sleeve.

Care
The conditions, not the icons.
Wool cycle, 30 °C maximum, dry flat. Hand wash if you can.
washing it hotter than this is not covered — and here is exactly why
Who pays when a sweater is felted- Maximum wash temperature
- 30 °CAbove this the fibre felts, and felting is permanent.
- Machine wool cycle
- AllowedA true wool programme: low agitation, slow spin.
- Drying
- Dry flatHanging a wet shaped knit stretches the body and the shoulders.
- Tumble dryer
- NeverHeat plus tumbling is the fastest way to felt a wool garment.
- Iron
- 110 °C maximumPress and lift. Sliding an iron across knitting flattens the stitch.
