Buys abrasion resistance, sells softness

Wool-nylon

What it gives you
Outlasts everything else here
What it costs you
Firmer hand, less soft on skin
Compare it against the other yarns

Twenty percent nylon roughly doubles how long the elbows last. It also makes the fabric read firm rather than soft, and at 21 μm the wool half is not fine to begin with.

This is the piece for someone who wears the same sweater four days a week and wants it to survive the year.

Four rows, on every wool piece we sell

What this yarn will do that you did not ask for.

A piece with any of these four rows missing cannot be listed. That rule is enforced in the build, not left to whoever writes the copy.

Will it pill?Pilling
It will pill, but least of anything here. The polyamide holds fibre ends in place. We grade this yarn 4–5 after 2,000 rubs (Martindale, ISO 12945-2).
Will it itch?Itch
Mean fibre diameter 21 μm. Below roughly 19.5 μm most people feel nothing; above roughly 23 μm most people do. That is a measurement, not a promise about your neck.
What if I wash it wrong?Felting
Heat and agitation felt wool, and felting cannot be undone. Wool cycle, 30 °C maximum, dried flat. A 60 °C machine wash will shrink this permanently, and that is wear caused by washing, not a defect in the garment.
Will moths eat it?Moths
Wool is a protein fibre and clothes moths eat it. Store it clean — moths are drawn to skin oils and food traces, not to wool itself — sealed in a bag or box, off the floor, and never pressed flat under weight for a whole season.

Pilling grade

4–5

5 is unchanged, 1 is heavily pilled.

Test method

Martindale abrasion, 2,000 rubs, assessed to ISO 12945-2

Mean fibre diameter 21 μm. Where that sits against every other yarn.

Care

The conditions, not the icons.

Wool cycle, 30 °C, dry flat. Four fifths wool: no hot wash.

washing it hotter than this is not covered — and here is exactly why

Who pays when a sweater is felted
Maximum wash temperature
30 °CAbove this the fibre felts, and felting is permanent.
Machine wool cycle
AllowedA true wool programme: low agitation, slow spin.
Drying
Dry flatHanging a wet shaped knit stretches the body and the shoulders.
Tumble dryer
NeverHeat plus tumbling is the fastest way to felt a wool garment.
Iron
110 °C maximumPress and lift. Sliding an iron across knitting flattens the stitch.
Care symbols: wool cycle at 30 degrees, do not tumble dry, dry flat, iron at 110 degrees maximum
